When poker star Beth Shak commits herself to a cause, she goes “all-in” with absolutely no hesitation. In one of her interviews, she once said that if she could change anything in the world, it would be to give health care for everybody, no terminal illness for children and discover a 100% cure rate for cancer.
Not surprisingly, Beth Shak poured out everything she had to organize a benefit called “All In” for Kids Poker Tournament,. The well attended event rallied the support of celebrities, professional athletes and Beth Shak fellow poker stars for a truly worthy cause – the palliative care program of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Among the guests at the event, held at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC, were Phil Ivey, seven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner; Phil Hellmuth,12-time WSOP bracelet winner; and Annie Duke, Ultimate Bet Pro as well as celebrity chef Bobby Flay and Mike Quick, former wide receiver of Philadelphia Eagles. The benefit raised over $825,000 for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Beth Shak blazed onto the poker scene 4 years ago, and has since cashed in multiple times at major tournaments, including 2 World Poker Tour events and 5 World Series of Poker events. Her remarkable rise in professional poker has earned her the sponsorship of Full Tilt Poker. She has also been placed amongst the top percentile of the Women’s All Time Money List. To date, her total winnings have passed the $450,000 mark.
